We have two Scholarships this year
The Jan Elfman Scholarship and the Patricia D. Netzley Scholarship
We are pleased to announce the sixth annual January Elfman Memorial Scholarship and the third annual Patrica D. Netzley Memorial Scholarship, each to be given out to one deserving writer at the BSCWW being held in February 2025 in Monterey, CA.
On March 31, 2018 we lost a dear friend to the workshops. Jan Elfman, wife of faculty member, Eric Elfman, passed away after a six-month battle with cancer. Jan attended the workshops for many years and was an integral part of smoothly running the workshop logistics.
Patricia was a beloved writer who was agented by Andrea Brown for many years. Patricia’s husband set this Memorial Scholarship up to honor Patricia who loved the Workshops.
Application deadline: May 10 - June 1, 2024
Applicants will be notified of our decision: July 1, 2024
General Information
The January Elfman scholarship and Patricia D. Netzley scholarship both provide one full scholarship to an emerging children’s writer who would not otherwise be able to attend. Scholarship covers workshop, lodging, and most meals for the weekend. (Please note: Guest rooms are shared). All travel and any ancillary expenses are the responsibility of the writer.
To apply, please complete the application and submit three pages of your writing between May 10 - June 1, 2024.
