Registration opens for the 2026 Workshop on September 8, 2025. Please submit 3 sample pages of your work (double space / 12 point font and 1” margins all around) in a Word Document to: lisa@bigsurchildrenswriters.com. INDICATE IN YOUR EMAIL OR ON YOUR WRITING SAMPLE WHICH 2026 WORKSHOP YOU WISH TO ATTEND - CALIFORNIA or CAPE COD. We’ve also been asked whether it’s possible to attend both Workshops. Yes.

Once we’ve reviewed your material, we will contact you directly. Submitted material does not have to be the work you plan on bringing to the workshop.

Please know this workshop fills up quickly and we have limited space available.

Fee of $1,600 includes two workshops with two mentors in small group critique format (total of 4 meetings), panels throughout the weekend with editors and agents, and lodging for two nights (Fri. and Sat.). Also included: Friday and Saturday night meals, and Saturday lunch. Note: There are two options to choose from double room ($1,600) or single room (additional $300). Invoices will be sent.

Serious children's writers only. Space is limited.

With writers joining us from many countries, and our intent to keep the Workshop limited, space is at a premium. Hence, our cancellation policy is as follows:

We understand life throws curveballs and try and accommodate anyone who has to cancel. Cancellations incur a small administration fee and unfortunately, cancellations with less than 30 days’ notice prior to the Workshop will not receive a refund.

The Big Sur Children's Writers Workshop is dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form. Conference participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the conference without a refund at the discretion of the conference organizers.
